Why This Couple Chose BRICK for Their San Diego Wedding

June 5, 2023

Dane & Hunter’s relationship began in high school. While they didn’t actually date at the time, they like to joke that they were high school sweethearts.

From Dane’s point of view, Hunter splashed into his life, literally, around his sophomore year of high school during their aquatics class. Hunter had just moved to Carlsbad, and instantly stood out to Dane with his big smile and energetic personality.

The two were drawn to each other and became close friends. From school lunches and football games, to dances, beach days, bonfires, and birthday parties, they remained a constant in each other’s lives.

Now, the “sweetheart” part, well, that’s a slightly different story. Neither Hunter or Dane were out in high school. Hunter was two grades ahead, and started his undergrad at Cal State San Marcos. Dane eventually went to UC Berkeley.

Despite the distance, they remained extremely close, and when Dane moved back home after college, they were finally back in the same place for the first time in four years. They picked up right where they left off, and their friendship eventually evolved into a relationship.

Fast-forward to their wedding day at BRICK, on November 11, 2022.

The couple and their wedding party got ready at their favorite hotel, The Pendry. It was important to them to spend time during the day with their friends who had stuck by them throughout their relationship.

While the grooms-women got their hair and makeup done, the groomsmen, Dane and Hunter started their morning off with a fresh wedding-ready cut at their favorite luxury barbershop, Tailored.

The grooms-women wore white jumpsuits, while the groomsmen wore tailored white shirts with ties featuring Dane and Hunter’s wedding colors. The couple wore different colored suits to stand out, and had their wedding party in mixed formations when they stood at the altar.

Their flower girl/ring bearer was their sweet dog Roxy, who wore a handmade flower collar created by their florist.

A few hours before the ceremony, Dane found out that he passed his Bar exam. Finding out the wonderful news, they were so excited to celebrate not just one but two joyous moments in their lives together.

BRICK was fully adorned with breathtaking blooms from Cherry Blossom Florals, and the intimate ceremony filled the space with so much love.

On the West Lawn, Life’s a Brie provided delicious charcuterie cup appetizers for guests to enjoy during cocktail hour.

The couple’s specialty drink was a “Fire & Ice” themed margarita, complete with monogrammed ice cubes.

Inside BRICK, dark wood farm tables from Cedar & Pine were decorated with floral table runners and candles. The ceiling featured a floral chandelier, beneath a checkered dance floor from Platinum Event Rentals.

The dessert table had a custom two-tiered cake, and donuts made by their pastry chef friend.

Dane and Hunter sat with their wedding party and closest friends, and enjoyed their first dance as a married couple surrounded by bright cold sparklers and colorful uplighting provided by their DJ.

After a delicious dinner provided by Mexico City Cuisine, the couple started the party by gathering all of their guests for a group photo, and surprising them with a boutonniere & bouquet toss.

From there, everyone danced the night away celebrating the happy couple!

Congratulations to the new Mr. & Mr., and a special thank you to our incredible vendor team!
